Staff Spotlight ~ Alissa Stone
This month, we’re highlighting Alissa Stone, a dedicated and compassionate 4th-grade teacher at Ambrosini Elementary School. Alissa is known for creating a fun, engaging, and positive learning environment for her students. Her colleagues praise her for being a team player, mentoring new teachers, and sharing her expertise to support their growth.
Alissa has been in education for around 20 years, with nine of those years spent in the Fortuna Elementary School District. She began her career as a preschool teacher, later transitioning to higher education as a lecturer in the Child Development Department at Humboldt State University and an Associate Faculty member at College of the Redwoods. In 2015, she joined FESD, teaching 5th grade at Toddy Thomas Middle School. Two years later, she moved to Ambrosini Elementary, where she has been inspiring 4th graders ever since.
When asked what she loves most about her work, Alissa shared:
"I love learning and teaching. I love children and relationships. I love the changing dynamic of each day—it keeps me on my toes!"
Originally from New Hampshire, Alissa graduated with a degree in Environmental Education before moving to Humboldt County in 2002. She has now lived in California longer than in her home state, though her whole family still resides back East.
Alissa’s passion for education, her dedication to her students, and her collaborative spirit make her an integral part of the Ambrosini team. Thank you, Alissa, for all you do for your students, colleagues, and the FESD community! 💛
