Staff Spotlight ~ Chris Halcomb
Meet Chris Halcomb, a dedicated and compassionate Community Schools, Climate & Culture Ambassador at Toddy Thomas Middle School. Chris is a true advocate for students, earning their trust and respect through his genuine care, problem-solving skills, and consistent presence. Whether he’s helping students navigate challenges, playing at recess, or simply being there to listen, Chris embodies what it means to be a leader and mentor. His principal describes him as an invaluable asset to the team!
Chris grew up in Trinity County and played Varsity Basketball at Enterprise High School in Redding. After attending Junior College in San Mateo and living in various parts of California, including Half Moon Bay, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration - Management from Cal Poly Humboldt. In 2021, Chris transitioned to education when his three children attended Freshwater Elementary School. He’s also a passionate basketball coach, currently serving as an assistant for the Varsity Boys team at Arcata High School.
Chris joined the Fortuna Elementary School District in 2023 as a SCIA at Fortuna Middle School before stepping into his current role. He has supported students in grades K-8 as an Instructional Aide and a SCIA for 7th grade.
When asked about what he loves most about his work, Chris shared:
"My favorite part about my job is getting the opportunity to establish relationships with all the students on campus throughout the day. It’s nice to pop into classes to chat, joke, and help them with their schoolwork."
Here's a fun fact about Chris: He was an extra in the movie Moneyball during his time in the Bay Area! βΎοΈ
