Staff Spotlight ~ Alex Wilson
This month’s Staff Spotlight shines on Alex Wilson, a dedicated ELD aide known for his calm and encouraging approach with math and ELD students. Alex has a special talent for helping students feel at ease, even when they’re working through tough concepts—a gift his principal notes has been invaluable in supporting student success. His background and skill in math make him a true asset, especially for the 7th and 8th graders he assists.
Alex started his journey with the Fortuna Elementary School District a decade ago, joining at just 20 years old. Over the years, he’s worn many hats, working as a classroom aide, SCIA, EXCEL aide, monitor, and even spending time in the kitchen. His experience spans nearly every grade level from TK through 8th grade. Currently, he serves as an ELD aide, where he provides extra math support for middle school students at multiple school sites.
For Alex, one of the most rewarding parts of his job is witnessing the students' growth. He recalls starting with a group of 3rd graders in the EXCEL program at Walker Elementary who are now high school seniors. Watching them learn, mature, and prepare for graduation is a reminder of the positive impact he’s had over the years.
Outside of school, Alex is a passionate traveler and lifelong learner. He and his wife celebrated their honeymoon this summer with an unforgettable trip to Europe, exploring Poland, Spain, and Denmark. They’re already dreaming about their next adventure together!
Thank you, Alex, for your dedication, warmth, and the difference you make in the lives of our students every day.
