Staff Spotlight: Renee Schoenhofer
Meet Renee Schoenhofer, a dedicated and versatile member of the Fortuna Elementary School District who splits her time between two schools. In the mornings, she serves as the Speech Aide at Walker Elementary, guiding small groups of students and celebrating their progress toward speech goals. Come afternoon, she brings her hard-working spirit to Fortuna Middle School as the part-time Secretary, handling various tasks with a friendly smile and a positive attitude.
Renee’s passion for education started right after college when she moved from the Bay Area to Fortuna and began teaching preschool in Ferndale. She joined FESD in August 2006 and has never looked back—loving both the daily variety of her work and the close relationships she forms with students and colleagues. Whether she’s encouraging 7th and 8th graders to be their best or brightening Walker’s halls in the morning, Renee’s commitment shines through.
A fun fact about Renee is her love for golf, a hobby she shares with her husband, Carl. They’ve been married for 33 years and enjoy traveling to courses throughout California, Arizona, Oregon, and Mexico. In her free time, she also likes to stay active by walking and exercising, and most of all, she cherishes moments spent with her two adult children and three grandchildren.
Renee has poured countless hours into making Fortuna Middle School (and all of FESD) a special place. Faithful, flexible, and always ready to help, she is a true asset to our district. Thank you, Renee, for all you do!
