Staff Spotlight ~ Kelsey Taylor
We’re thrilled to introduce Kelsey Taylor, the cheerful and dedicated Education Specialist/TK-4 Special Day Class Teacher at Walker Elementary School. Known for her positive energy and rapport with students, Kelsey has proven herself a wonderful fit in our district.
Originally from the Central Valley, Kelsey moved to Humboldt County for college and earned a bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Cal Poly Humboldt. She also completed two education specialist teaching credentials. Though she has only been at Fortuna Elementary for two years, Kelsey brings about six years of education experience, including time as a paraprofessional in elementary and middle school, as well as four years teaching preschool.
This year marks her first leading a Special Day Class, which she finds incredibly rewarding. “The best part of my job is getting to know all of my students and watching them grow. There’s nothing like seeing that moment of excitement when something once challenging becomes easier,” Kelsey shares.
A fun fact about Kelsey: she did ballet for 10 years—five of them spent in modern ballet—and earned her pointe shoes at just 12 years old! While she no longer dances formally, she credits her dance background for helping shape who she is today.
With her warm personality, love for children, and dedication to their success, Kelsey Taylor truly embodies the spirit of our Walker Elementary community. We’re grateful to have her on our team!
