Staff Spotlight ~ Ken Misener

We are pleased to highlight Ken Misener, a custodian who serves both Linell K. Walker Elementary and Fortuna Middle School. Ken has been with the district for four years, and in that time, he has become an important part of each campus he supports.
Principal Helen Nelson shares, “Ken has made it clear that he cares about our students and our school. He goes the extra mile to ensure our campus feels fun and welcoming; he connects with all the students during lunch, and he is diligent in his work.” Staff members agree, noting that Ken adds extra touches that make the school a happier place, such as helping decorate for special events like the Cinco de Mayo Festival and the Winter Wonderland Breakfast.
Before joining the district, Ken worked in a variety of fields, including modeling, fashion, health care, floral design, hairstyling, and restaurant service. His creativity and people skills shine through in everything he does at school. When asked what he enjoys most about his job, he didn’t hesitate: “The kids. The kids make my day. I enjoy learning from their experiences and hearing all of their stories.”
A fun fact about Ken is that he has five dogs and would happily welcome more. He also loves spending time in his garden, especially caring for his roses. In the summertime, you’ll often find him swimming or enjoying the warm weather.
Ken’s positive attitude, extra efforts, and genuine care for students make him a standout member of both the Walker and FMS communities. We appreciate everything he brings to our district! ⭐
