We are happy to highlight Marisa Elise Esparza, a Monitor and ELL Aide at Fortuna Middle School. Marisa joined FMS in October 2023 and has quickly become a bright, positive presence on campus.

Her principal shares, “Marisa spreads joy across our campus with her constant smile and encouragement. Her positive attitude is contagious.” Students and staff feel that warmth every day.

Marisa was born and raised in Hayward, California, and moved to Fortuna in 2021 with her husband and their two children. At FMS, she supports 7th and 8th grade students as both a Monitor and ELL Aide, and she has also worked as a classroom aide in the Winter and Summer ELOP programs, helping 2nd through 6th graders.

What Marisa enjoys most about her work is getting to witness student growth.
She says, “I love being able to be a part of the kids’ growth. Seeing how much they have changed within the year is really exciting to see.”

A fun fact about Marisa is that she enjoys family camping trips, plays in a local adult soccer league, and loves upcycling items to create home and holiday decorations.

Marisa’s encouragement, friendliness, and joyful spirit make her a wonderful part of the FMS community. We are grateful for all she brings to our students and our school! ☀️
