Staff Spotlight ~ Heather Griffis

Heather Griffis is a Kindergarten Aide at Walker Elementary and one of this trimester’s Spotlight Employees. Heather has been a dedicated part of the district for 28 years, during which she has worked closely alongside Mrs. Cook through several assignments in 4th and 7th grades. For the past 15 years, she has specialized in supporting our youngest learners in kindergarten.
Her Principal, Helen Nelson, describes Heather as steady, reliable, and kind, noting, "As a kindergarten aide, she shows endless patience, and the students feel safe with her. Heather has a ready smile and is very effective with the young ones. Walker is lucky to have her on staff."
What Heather likes best about her role is watching the moment everything "clicks" for a student. She finds it incredibly rewarding to see that spark of understanding when a child truly gets a new concept.
A fun fact about Heather is that she loves spending time on her family’s boat at Ruth Lake. While her husband handles the fishing, she enjoys the opportunity to simply relax and take in the outdoors. We are grateful for Heather’s nearly three decades of service and the patience she brings to her classroom every day. Thank you, Heather, for all you do for your students and our school community!
